Dr. Arnold Rugg has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1974. After graduating from New York University with a BA in Classical Civilization, he attended the University of Bologna Veterinary College in Bologna, Italy. Dr. Rugg completed his ECFVG internship at Iowa State University. He practiced small animal medicine and surgery in Long Island and Rhode Island before founding Kingston Animal Hospital, PC in 1980.
Dr. Rugg is past president of the Hudson Valley Veterinary Medical Society. He is an affiliate member of the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Society, as well as the New York State Veterinary Medical Society. In addition to being the director of the Kingston Animal Hospital, Dr. Rugg maintains his interest in small animal medicine and surgery through practice and continuing education. He has been active in founding and supporting the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Hudson Valley in Kingston.
Dr. Rugg and his wife Elaine have three grown children and are proud grandparents of six beautiful grandchildren. You will see them around the office, as well as their kitty “Boo Boo”. They are spoiled and treated as a family members by him and his family. He expects his patients to be treated with the quality of care and affection he gives his own pet.
Dr. Alden is a graduate of Virginia Tech; she received a BS in Biology and a BS in Animal Science. She received her DVM in 1990 from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. In addition to Working part time at Kingston Animal Hospital, Dr. Alden is a full Professor at UCCC at Ulster County Community College and directs their veterinary technology program. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Past President of the Junior League.
Dr. Alden is a native of Hurley, NY. She and her daughter Taylor currently live with their 4 cats (Cookie, Gilbert, Toesy and Oliver) their standard poodle, Ellie and a toy poodle Zoey.
Dr. Turner graduated from Ulster County Community College in 2008 with an A.S. in individual Studies. She completed her B.S. in Cell and Molecular Biology at Binghamton University in 2010. Dr. Turner received her DVM from Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University in 2015. in addition to working at Kingston Animal Hospital, PC, she is a adjunct instructor at SUNY Ulster for the veterinary technology program. She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
In her spare time, Dr. Turner is an avid hiker, amateur astronomer, and plays the piano and drums. She is a native of Woodstock, NY where she currently resides with her cat Candy, her Labrador retriever Luna and 14 chickens.
Dr. Winkler joined our team in November 2018. Her areas of interest include client
communication, preventive care, senior pet care, behavior, dermatology and soft tissue surgery. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Marist College in 2003 and her doctorate degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She is a member of the AVMA, NYSVMS and HVVMS.
Dr. Winkler grew up in the Kingston area and lives locally with her family and 2 rescue dogs. She enjoys hiking, reading, crocheting, yard work and being a
